Sword Art Online: Elucidator Sheath Progress. by loveshina Sword Art Online: Elucidator Sheath Progress. by loveshina
Finally got some good work done on the sheath, been really busy lately. Now I can complete the finish on the sword and shape the sheath. Soon I should have some work on the rest of the costume!
I lined the inside with black cotton fleece type material to protect the finish, it has a really nice fit.

how did you round the handle?

Basically it started square, and I beveled each edge by hand, making it an octagon, then did that once more into 16, then just sanded it smooth into a circle.

I have never made any sword like this, but I swear I'm interested. I want to try it but I don't know anything about this. The techniques and everything ._.
I need someone to teach me because my family isn't the type of making things from wood. As for the tools I think my grandma's brother has it. Teach meee~ LOL

-sorry for my bad english :)

Of what exactly? The sheath, cuz it's not truly show accurate. Either way, the thickness of the sheath is 3/4 inch on the inside and the side pieces are 1/4 inch thick. I kind of just made it to fit my sword, as I had to allow for the cloth and cross piece on the end.

I don't know if I'll be doing a tutorial on the Elucidator in particular, but I had planned on doing one for the Dark Repulsor. Although looking at it I might have enough pics to put one together. What in particular are you looking for in term of a tut? The way it's constructed? Tools and techniques?

this is really amazing, the craftsman ship on the sword is really exquisite. Just a question, will you also make Kirito's other sword Dark Repulsor?

As for materials, I get most my stuff from Lowes. For tools, I use my dads shop. The clearcoat I use is a guitar lacquer out of a spray gun that gives a much heavier build than what's out of the can.
