Sword Art Online: Elucidator Final 2 by loveshina Sword Art Online: Elucidator Final 2 by loveshina
Okay, NOW it's done. And miraculously it still fits perfectly in the sheath with the crosses on the end, the channels I cut worked!

Oh, and one final thing before I forget. TONS of thanks to my dad for his advice and help on this thing. Definitely helped loads!

Damn, this is awesome. I just planned to make one myself as a new wall-clock (clock hands on the blade) and then I encountered your sword during research. I was wondering if you have a digital version of the blueprints (like a PSD/JPG with measurements) that you might share.

Question would you happen to be able to make one out of metal

Unfortunately I lack alot of the required knowledge and equipment to make a functioning blade.

The best advice I can give is Google and experience. I could spend hours typing out everything little thing I've learned from just doing stuff, but other people have already done this, much better than I ever could. One of the best comprehensive beginner sword tutorials I've found is this www.cosplay.com/showthread.php…. The only thing I might change is using poplar over pine, but pine might be easier since it's softer and better for working by hand. If you have access to power tools, use them, but make sure you get help if you don't know how to use them.
Really, most everything has been done before, and most people catalog their process, so a google search can find just about anything.

Eventually, it's been delayed a bit while I'm able to finish another sword, but hopefully soon.

Not too sure at this point. I still need to think through pricing since I've never done commissions before.

I cosplayed Kirito at Otakon 2012, but had to make do with a bad impression of the first sword he wielded, the Anneal blade, and for 2013 I am looking to make Kirito's and Asuna's blades. This is truly an excellent example. Much praise; it looks positively awesome.

Man, as I made my way through the photos I just want to die.
This sword is so... I don't even know. Its just so amazing.
I just got done watching Sword Art so I'm starting to think of a cosplay, and I'm undecided between Kirito and Asuna but either way the sword is a must.
So it's nice seeing these pictures.
Very, very good work on the sword :3

Thanks a ton! And although I love the black in Kirito's outfit, the details in Asuna's make me wish I had an excuse to make that. Oh well, I'll have plenty of detail to take care of with my next cosplay.

No problem. And yes, both Kirito and Asuna have great outfits.
I would definitely do Asuna if I had someone else to cosplay Kirito with me, but sadly I don't so I'm thinking about sticking with just Kirito.
Just wish I had the time and money to do all the characters, curses.

This is really nice , I've tried to make one for myself and it sort of worked. Though i'm not happy with the result since I used some cheap composite wood I had lieing in my basement and it broke after swinging it a couple of times -_-. I did manage to fix it with some heavy duty glue :).
I've read that you made yours out of popular, is it sturdy? Can you swing it without fearing it might brake?

:iconloveshina:
loveshina Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2012  Student Artisan Crafter
Yeah, mine is very sturdy. Poplar is a very strong wood, plenty for this. what kind did you use?

some sort of spare composite planks I had lying around. Very breakable at the handle, it couldn't hold the weight I guess

:iconloveshina:
loveshina Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2012  Student Artisan Crafter
yeah, composite isn't very good. You can actually use the grain to your advantage with something like this, make it more springy along the length going with the grain. You can't go wrong with poplar, and it's cheap.

Over all weight?

Not sure, had a friend ask me that and when I tested myself holding it on my scale the weight didn't change, so apparently less than a pound. Either way it' extremely light. Poplar is a very strong and hard wood, yet light, lending itself well to this.
