Finished the armor pieces, came out pretty good I think, I'm happy with them. That chest piece changes a bunch, so it might not be completely accurate.
I am trying to help my uncle craft his armor pieces and belt for a convention in about two weeks. We don't have too many materials available to us right now because of such short notice. Are there any tips or advice you would be willing to give me to help make this happen for him? It does not have to be perfect this round, but he wants it to look at least nice. Any help would be awesome.
It would help if I could see what he's trying to make. But off hand one of the easiest and quickest things to work with are those thin foam sheets you can get at any craft store. They aren't the sturdiest thing but with a bit of work you can make them look good. There's also plenty of tutorials online about working with those.
He was trying to make the same exact armor pieces that you made. I have the belt and the coat made for him already, that was the only bit that was missing. That helped a LOT, thank you so much. It's better than what he was going to use which was pool table felt painted silver.... I told him no.
Ah, then those will work great. And yeah, I don't think felt would be the the best. What I found useful were pvc couplings, was able to cut them in half and slightly bend them with the help of a heat gun.
Awesome, I will definitely have to look into more permanent materials for next time he decides to cos-play. He plans on being Kirito next year as well, so this will make it easier to plan.
