Greatsword of Artorias WIP by loveshina Greatsword of Artorias WIP by loveshina
Started work on the Greatsword this week. Going smoothly so far. The only thing I've done differently here is that I used a steel rod as support in the handle, the wood alone wouldn't support something of this size. It's scaled to match my height at 5'6", and so far is made of poplar with a steel rod and a couple pvc pipes (along with a bit of apoxie sculpt.) Next job will be to start shaping the details on the hilt.

How exactly did you do the core? Just cut a huge slot in the poplar for it?

I believe on this one, I made the handle by using casting resin to embed a 1/2" threaded steel rod inside a piece of pvc pipe. Then I drilled a 1/2" hole the the base of the blade, and I epoxied the two pieces together when they were ready.

That's pretty close to one of my guesses, cool. Thanks. You're crazy good at this stuff, keep it up. Sword Tard

I normally do business of a commission basis, and am actually working on one of these for someone else, and it would work for me to do another along side it. If you are interested, send me a note and I can tell you the details.
